What a great time we had here. But, also we were reminded of why we plan & prepare...

For this trip Kim and I didn't plan things the way we usually do and had a few... Hiccups you could call them. The food was great, the company was awesome, and the campsite wasn't too bad either.
Hiccup #1 - I forgot the skewers for our first night's planned dinner...
In hindsight, I don’t really think this was a mistake. We hadn’t really thought about how we would cook them over the fire without a good grill. The grills in camps aren’t usually in very good shape… (see Image) Our solution was just to use the good old dutch oven. It worked well and food was great. I didn't get a picture of what we ended up with probably because of the next Hiccup...
Hiccup #2- I forgot that we had bought zucchini and yellow squash for the meal
All of these are a result of our modified planning routine, I didn’t specify the menu and ingredients on the pre-departure lists anywhere and I totally forgot to include them. No real solution in the moment, just glad we had enough food that no one left hungry.
Hiccup #3- I FORGOT THE REESES FOR SMORES ☹
Same problem, only in this case i'd call it more of a cardinal sin....
These issues weren't catastrophic but it just reminds us all how important the planning phase is for us. If it isn't on a list we will forget it.
